Astrocat – Open Systems EP
Catalog Number: DR011
Release Year: 1995
Astrocat is Jordan Trais of Chicago. Steadily and quietly, he’s becoming one of America’s masters of the TB-303. He’s released a steady stream of acid infused techno and funk since 1992, including his O.H.M. project on Defective, as well as a full length CD release on Chicago’s Binary Records, and multiple vinyl releases on Drop Bass Records, Communique, and Analog Records.
Although influenced by “all kinds of music,” Astrocat cites the sounds of Detroit electro as his main inspiration. Mr. Trais somehow manages to weave his 303 into all kinds of tracks, including raw analog techno, sequenced trance, and even funky acid. And Defective loves ’em all!

“Raw analogue beats, phunky acid and wiggy acid grooves mark the moods captured here. If you are inspired and attracted to the melodious seductions of Detroit based techno then all I can say is…CHECK”
