Machineries Of Heaven – Astro Tektonics
Catalog Number: DR024
Release Year: 1997
Machineries of Heaven is Rom Di Prisco (aka RISC Taker) and Kyla Phillips (aka Nefertiti 010), both of whom hail from Ontario, Canada. Rom, who was classically trained at the Royal Conservatory of Music, does most of the writing and production, while Kyla does additional writing / production, and all photography / digital graphics for their products and live performances.
Although this is their first release as Machineries of Heaven, Rom and Kyla have released several releases previously on some well established labels; as Meta-Morph VI on Brute Records UK, Viceroy Music Germany, and for the British Future Music magazine CD compilation. As Bitstream Dream, they’ve released music on Italy’s Minus Habens Records, as well as a full length independently produced CD. To top it off, they’ve recorded music for several CD-ROM games, including Rebel Moon Rising and The Need for Speed 2. Clearly, these are prolific artists!
On Astro Tektonics, they provide a mixture of “intelligent” techno together with hard edged trance. They then take this product and incorporate other styles into the mix, including ethnic, tribal, and other-worldly sounds. Highly danceable, uplifting, and totally cool – Defective is proud to add Canada to its list of artist countries with the addition of Machineries of Heaven to its roster.
