Solar X – Outre X Mer EP
Catalog Number: DR014
Release Year: 1995
Solar X is Roman Belavkin from Moscow, Russia. Outre X Mer is his debut commercial release, but you’d never know it by listening to this E.P. His rhythms are extremely complex, his sound palette diverse, and his originality untainted by European and American techno. He uses loads of Russian synths, many of them completely unheard of in the West. This music is different.
Roman describes himself best. “…one of my greatest influences was and is the Moscow underground (the subway or tube or whatever you call it). It has a very special sound and it gives me most of my ideas.” “Regarding my music, I like to hear both sides of sound; distorted, awkward, ugly, and black, contrasting with clean, pleasant, beautiful, and white. Sometimes I mix these elements in equal proportions; other times, one side has the ‘advantage’. I am also a fan of Soviet industry, which built the ugliest things human kind ever built. So I compose very heavy stuff sometimes. This is a stress output.”
Check out Outre X Mer and you’ll be treated to some of the most unique and fresh material we’ve come across in quite a while…on Defective Records.
