Trybet – T.B. Transit EP
Catalog Number: DR016
Release Year: 1996
Trybet is Baltimore’s Mike Parker and Aric Rist. Trybet arrived on the scene in August 1994 with their self-titled debut release, which was highly praised both in the U.S. and Europe, particularly Germany, where the track “Belong” charted at number 16 on Groove Magazine‘s top 50 in October 1994. Shortly thereafter, “Belong” was licensed for Groove Magazine’s 5 Year Anniversary CD compilation, where Trybet shared the bill with top notch techno artists Emmanuel Top, DJ Hell, Mike Dearborn, and Frank DeWulf, among others.
In March 1995, Trybet gave us the “Mood Setter” e.p., a four track vinyl release with smooth atonal synth phrases layered over hard, fast rhythms. Once again, Trybet received worldwide praise, and a licensing deal from Virtual Recordings, Labworks Records’ new label. This release featured special remixes by Woody “DJ ESP” McBride and Holger “Hoschi” Wick.
Trybet kept up the pace in late ’95 with the “Monodrive” 12″ limited edition release, which contained a radically different version of “Belong”, as well as the wicked new title track.
Defective is now proud to announce the “T.B. Transit” e.p., a two platter serving of some of the tastiest dark and deep analog yet from Trybet. With the addition of some well-placed vocal elements, Trybet has opened up their sound even further, adding an element of funky soulfulness that should attract new fans, while keeping the solid trance elements that define their previous releases. Their best work to date!
